3KSTATIC
With
a ten year string of charting tracks, two Number
One albums and a richly eclectic roster of
collaborators, two-time GRAMMY® Award
candidates 3kStatic have risen to the elite of
the electronic music underground.Formed in 1999
as an experiment in what one critic dubbed
'anarchist disco', 3kStatic has outlasted
legions of faceless names and trends, while
continuing to produce what another pundit called
'some of the weirdest electronic (music) you
will ever hear'.
Heavily influenced by the sound and fury of
post-punk electronica pioneers, 3kStatic walks
the sonic high wire of electro-angst, crashing
genres along the way.
Described as 'arching soundscapes bridging the
sound of Cabaret Voltaire and Meat Beat
Manifesto to the technical finesse of the Warp
label'; 3kStatic first made inroads on the
German electronic scene with the release of the
2004 album Perversion: For Profit
(Sony) and returned in 2005 with The Great
Republic (Cargo); with the latter being
selected as among that label's Top 10 releases
of the year.
Following up with Where's Our Piece of the
Groovy World? (dPulse/Neo) in 2006... a
double album that hit #1 (Dance) on iTunes,
where it also charted Top 10 in Spain, Italy,
Switzerland and an Belgium for ten consecutive
weeks &endash; 3kStatic also launched an
aggressive live schedule withshows across the
US, culminating with a date at New York's famed
Knitting Factory.
The 2007 3kStatic release &endash; Voodoo
Science (dPulse/INgrooves/Neo) carried
the momentum from Groovy World? to
new heights, hitting Top 5 at multiple digital
music retailers; with 11 charting tracks and
three #1s). The single 'The Big Space' was
subsequently remixed, with versions on the
Nighshade, Televisionary and Sick Watona
labels.
The new 3kStatic album Evolver and
sound library project are out now on
Sony.
'Projected Tones', the first single from
the new album, is currently charting
Top
10
and gaining impressive DJ support, as well as
radio airplay on FM and digital radio.
3kStatic will open a selection of shows for
2009, appearing live in Miami for Winter Music
Conference, including a headlining performance
at Gatecrasher WMC, March 28, 2009.
Additional confirmed dates include Nashville, TN
(April 27).
3kStatic are the only artist member of
Microsoft's Audio Music Partnership, and have
collaborated with dozens of rock, hip-hop, funk
and electronica artists over their 10-year
career, including Graham Crabb and Adam Mole
(Pop Will Eat Itself); George Clinton and
the P-Funk All Stars, Parthenon
Huxley (The Orchestra/ELO Part II),
Professor Griff (Public Enemy); Virgil
Howe (Yes, Future Sound of London); David
Mannion (Kansas, Paul Rodgers); Greg X.
Volz (Petra); Kevin Max (dcTalk),
Pete Miser; Rom Di Prisco, Joy
Askew; Annette Strean of Venus Hum;
Shelley Harland and many others.
In addition, electronic music icon Richard H.
Kirk (Cabaret Voltaire) designed the cover
artwork for the 2005 album Cut Up /
Liberate.
